Who we are
Supporting first-generation Badgers
First-Generation and Limited-Income Services (FGLI) is a dedicated unit within Student Affairs committed to supporting students who are the first in their families to attend college and those from limited-income backgrounds. Building on the long-standing network of academic and scholarship programs that have supported first-generation and limited-income students on campus, FGLI serves as the campus hub for connection, support, and success.
The department brings together resources and programs to help first-generation and limited-income Badgers succeed at UW–Madison. Students will find opportunities to build community, discover campus opportunities, or learn about services designed for success.
FGLI also serves as a referral office for first-gen and limited-income Badgers to connect with campus partners and resources to ensure seamless student support from orientation to commencement, and in the years in between. FGLI reflects UW–Madison’s commitment to fostering belonging and ensuring every student feels supported and empowered.
